Strategic Plan

The Galesburg DDA held several town hall meeting during the month of October where is asked community members and businesses to give input on the future of the City of Galesburg. Below are the items there were suggested at these meetings, they are arrange by one, five and ten year projects in no specific order at this time. We encourage everyone to come to our meetings or e-mail us with more ideas. The Galesburg DDA will now take this information, organize and prioritize it, get estimates on costs and begin implementing the plan.

One Year

  • Electric or non-electric marquee to help communicate city and public events.
  • Disc Golf Course
  • Skate Park or other kid friendly ideas.
  • Farmers Market
  • Band shell
  • City Wide Streetscape Project
  • Save and Move the old historic City Hall.
  • Save and Move the old historic Taylor grain mill
  • Save and/or move the old historic Roelof house
  • Save and/or move the Schnider Building
  • Save and/or move the old historic Dreamers Furniture House
  • Kalamazoo River Access (dock) behind city hall
  • Guthrie Room Updates
  • Welcome to Galesburg Gateway Signs (three more)
  • Redo/Revise Shaftner Monument
  • Name park behind City Hall
  • Encourage Immediate City Face-lifts
  • Window cleaning and decorating (perhaps a contest)
  • Trails or trail network
  • Davis Oil Building removal
  • More parks
  • Bring back the circus
  • Work on filling empty buildings


    Five Year

  • Community Center and Land
  • Skate Park or kid related
  • Bandshell
  • Save and Move the old historic City Hall.
